Thoughts on Waiting

In Psalms 40, you will find David in a season of waiting. . His season of waiting is messy. His season of waiting is messy. He cries out to God. He is hopeless. He doesn't know what his future looks like. Yet God meets him there. Though David was a mess, God picked him up and gave him a new song. It wasn't the same tune that David sang during his mountain-top experience as he experienced the taste of God's goodness. No, this song was different. It was a NEW song. A song that David may have whispered in the night when he had no one to go to. A song that he sang when life slowed down and the hurt went deep. A song he sang when he didn't understand the ways of God or God's purpose. But it was a song that brought glory to God. It was messy. It was hard. But it brought glory to his Father. David realized that more people would be touched by his new song and that many would trust Jesus because of it. People would hear his new song that may had never heard had he not been given his song. And it was worth it. David wanted God's will no matter what God's will looked like. He wanted God's will even if it meant his world was falling apart. no matter what, David desired God's will. The valley. pleased God. the valley lifted the name of Jesus. The valley pointed those around David to Jesus. The valley is where David saw God's mercy. It was where he found God's heart. The valley was a privilege because it brought David closer to Jesus. The valley may be your waiting, but victory can also be found in the valley.
